Amsterdam V + Mini guide

That morning we only had 2 hours before living the city (in this post won't be a lot of pictures, you will see...) We decided to visit Vondelpark, that was very close to the hotel and we didn't visit it. On the way, we found a shop of macaranos and I couldn't wait to visit Paris to try them (but I had already tryed them hahahah) I choosed one with raspberry flavour and another with "sakura" (cherry blossom) with roses flavour, they we're delicious!

In Vondelpark we saw a lot of ducks. We didn0t walked a lot because we didn't had much time, but I could see this park, is so huge and there's a lot of people cicling or playing with dogs.

Edificio de camino al aeropuerto.
Building on our way to the airport.

In that airport we stayed some hours waiting. This airport has a very strict security control, they drained the hand bags of some people, in my case, they touched my body blatantly...

On the corridor to the plane tjey were this posters, it makes me smile to see a woman that felt indentifyed with one, smiled and took a picture.

Frases de una revista del avión.
Quotes from a magazine of the plane.

The flight was very calm, but a bit boring because I sat on the seat of the middle, and even my friend was sitting next to me, on the window seat was sitting a unknown woman. God bless that poor woman, because when we were flying above Catalonia, she had to hear me screaming. You have to see the pictures first:

I saw Pedraforca from the sky,
(is the mountain that is next the snowed mountains with a similar shape of the back of a camel, you can see it in this picture
I saw this mountain from the window of my bedroom in home, saw it from the sky was so beautiful, I also think I flew above my town ^^

And the landing, another surprise. If I said that my landing in The Netherlandswas the most beautiful of my life, this was the second. The plane gave us a good sight of Barcelona from the sea.
I think that the most landings on this city must be like this, but the other times I did it was at night.

Once in Barcelona, we took the train to Sants station and finally, our train to Vic.

Although the city of Amsterdam has liked me, I have a very confused feeling towards her, as it has not convinced me and I don't knoe why. Maybe it's the way of life, it just does not fit with me. I really didn't had any bad experiences there, maybe it was because I thought more in having fun with my partners and getting good memories of the experiences.

As promised, I leave you with a small guide with some details to keep in mind if you are going to visit this city. (I asked you questions, but you have hardly participated!)

Language: In The Netherlands they speak  Dutch, although I think that most people speak English and with a great level. The labels of the places are both in Dutch and English. As a curiosity, on the tram, when the next stop is announced, they also mention the tourist places near the stop, so if you want to go to a place, they let you know.

Transportation: The most used are the bicycles. They have steps enabled and it is common that you have to get away, although most cyclists are respectful. If you have the opportunity to rent one, take advantage of it, it must be very cool to travel with this medium through the city. I did not try it and I regret it!
There is also tram, bus, metro and taxi, although I only used the first one. It costs a bit to get oriented with them (the maps are complicated) but when you learn the number of the one that takes you closer to the hotel, it's so easy. In some there is as an information booth with a person willing to solve your doubts if you don't know how to get to a place. I don't remember the price because I used the I amsterdam City Card, but there are subscriptions for days. It is important to mark the ticket when going up and down.

Weather: I went at the end of March and it was good enough, with lots of sunshine, although one day it rained a little or there was wind, luckily I wore a coat, sweater and scarf. Keep in mind that being a city full of canals, it 's humid.

Museums: In Amsterdam there are many museums, I do not know if it's the city with more museums per square meter or so! There are many to see, I recommend the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum, the Van Gogh Museum, Willet-Holthuysen Museum, Anne Frank Huis, I visited them, although I would have liked to see the Rembrandt Museum and the Tulip Museum.

Red Lights district and coffeshops: although the issue of prostitution and drugs, I do not advise against taking a walk in that neighborhood. The truth is that there is no "bad environment", women are in their windows trying to capture customers (which can also intimidate a bit). You have to go carefully with the cameras, as sometimes the girls have bodyguards who do not hesitate In throwing it by the channel if you make a plan to take a photo. As for coffeshops, they do not usually look like "anthro" and people go there in their own way, like someone entering a bar and drinking a coke.

Food: The food there is very varied, apart from the traditional food, you can also find where to eat a hamburger or pizza, oriental restaurants, Italians, and Argentines! There are also many shops with confectionery (waffles, muffins ...) and ice cream, the most curious thing I saw were churros!
But if you want to eat something typical of these homes, I recommend the Staampot (sausage with vegetables), the Haaring (raw herring) and the potato chips with mayonnaise. The beer of the city is the Heineken.
Also add that there is the supermarket chain "Albert Heijn" where they have food at a good price.

Hours: This point, especially for Spaniards, is important to know! The schedules there are a bit different from here, I don't know in your countries, but in Spain we use to have dinner at 9, and here the shops close at 6 so that hours before without something to do are a bit weird for us.

I amsterdam City Card: With this type of cards there is always the question if they are worth. In my case, I think it was worth buying, but it always depends on the use that you want to give. There are several types, for hours: 24, 48 and 72 hours, and includes free entry to many museums (eye! Do not enter the Museum of Anna Frank and the Riksmuseum only discount), transport by tram, interurban bus and subway , Plus a 70-minute cruise and discounts at several locations. Before deciding, each one to value their intentions, for example, to see only a couple of museums is not worth to pay it just for the transport tickets, but if you are going to visit several museums (which as I said, by schedules , It is difficult to put them together in one day) you can add the cost of all the tickets, and added to the transport, you can evaluate if it is worth.

So here I finish my posts about Amsterdam, hope you like it!

The photo of you with the macaroon in your mouth also made me laugh!
I often have those same ducks in my garden. Yesterday, we saw ducklings in our pool. They look nice, but they like to make a lot of noise!

I've loved following your trip to Amsterdam!

It looks like you had a great time!
